Belle Chasse Academy Grant

Abstract

Belle Chasse Academy, a public charter school housed on NAS/JRB in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, requests this MCASP funding to enrich student experience in the areas of social and emotional learning (SEL) and science, technology, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) in a harmonious way. Through this syncopation of the Leader in Me framework and the National Math and Science Initiative, Belle Chasse Academy will expand upon and improve our instructional outcomes under the direction of two new positions--an SEL coach and a STEAM Coach. Through organizational capacity building, in-class curriculum and instructional support, and extracurricular activities, this program will support the educational mission of BCA: to serve the unique emotional and educational needs of military dependent students no matter their previous education or experiences. Military dependent students represent 89% of our school population, and it is our aim to offer the most comprehensive, student-centered programming that fosters not only academic achievement but also the self-actualization and confidence needed for success in their next stations and in formal schooling and beyond.
