The C3t Project: Cache Calculating Connections Team

Abstract

Cache Public Schools presents the C3t Project to increase academic achievement in mathematics in preparation for health sciences careers. The project will be implemented in Cache, Oklahoma, near both Fort Sill Army Installation and Altus Air Force Base. Cache serves 1,978 students in grades PK-12, 41% of whom are military-connected. Student test and achievement data indicate a need for better math scores, improved math education, and a social-emotional component to help students learn and teachers teach in an atmosphere more conducive to project-based learning and collaboration. The goals of the project are to increase the number of students meeting benchmarks on the math section of the ACT Aspire test in grades 4 and 9 by 1.5% annually. The project will address teaching strategies, communication among the math faculty through project-based learning, and student social-emotional growth to introduce more students to careers in health sciences by emphasizing the “M” in “STEAM.”
