Computer Science and Cybersecurity and STEM Enrichment

Abstract

The STEM focus is to engage students through STEM based standards, inquiry based projects, and balanced qualitative and quantitative assessments. Students learn to challenge themselves, have fun, and participate in learning activities while building their STEM and CS proficiency. Supporting students’ academic achievement in math and computer science will provide opportunity and encouragement for military connected students to successfully pursue rigorous STEM and CS coursework in high school and build post secondary college and career readiness. This proposal will support a comprehensive system of enrichment activities, instructional practices, and professional development to support military connected students in grade 7 and 8 with the goal of improving military connected students’ academic math achievement and computer science to pursue Advanced Placement STEM exams in high school, resulting in skilled and confident students who are ready for post secondary STEM opportunities in 21st Century economy.
