Tactical Tutoring for Elementary Readers
Abstract
Grant funds are needed for interventions to address student achievement gaps in reading. Response to Intervention Assistants will be hired and trained to provide effective in class tutoring in collaboration with teachers. A School Improvement Coordinator will lead Tactical Tutoring for Elementary Readers Project efforts to increase student reading achievement at 9 elementary schools with greater than 10 percents military connected student enrollment. This 2 million start up investment from DoDEA to support elementary literacy will ensure all students, including military connected students, exceed standards. The state of Alaska and the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District are committed to strengthening student outcomes in reading and DoDEA grant will take this momentum to the next level.
