Multicultural Opportunities for Biliteracy and Bilingualism in Language Education
Abstract
This grant proposal aims to enhance World Language education in Mascoutah Community School District 19 by promoting biliteracy, bilingualism, and cultural competence. We will expand our course offerings and incorporate technology into the learning process, providing students with access to authentic language materials and immersive experiences. By leveraging innovative educational technologies, students will have abundant access to authentic language resources and immersive learning opportunities. Additionally, professional development opportunities will be provided to teachers to enhance the integration of research based practices into language instruction. These sessions will promote accredited student learning and serve as a catalyst for enhancing language acquisition and cultural understanding. Our project aims to cultivate a dynamic and interactive learning environment that not only facilitates language acquisition but also nurtures an appreciation for the rich tapestry of global cultures. By strategically integrating language education, educators and students alike will be better prepared to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
