World Wonder Unlocking Languages and Cultures for Military Connected Youth
Abstract
The mission of the York County School Division is to ensure every student is valued, supported, and challenged through learning experiences that prepare them for a successful future. Providing elementary and middle school students with opportunities to explore world languages and cultures is crucial in fulfilling this mission. Research consistently demonstrates the numerous cognitive, academic, and socio cultural benefits of early exposure to world languages and cultures. Studies show that children who engage in language learning from a young age exhibit enhanced cognitive abilities, such as improved problem solving skills, greater creativity, and increased flexibility in thinking. Exposing elementary and middle school students to diverse language and cultural experiences equips them with valuable skills and perspectives necessary for success in an increasingly globalized world.
