LCSD Academic and Enrichment After School Program
Abstract
Lyme Central School District (LCSD) seeks $500,000 DoDEA MCASP funding over five years to implement evidence based academic and enrichment programming. Goals, By the end of the grant period, as evidenced by qualitative and or quantitative measures, the project will meet the academic needs of military connected and all PreK to 12 students through an afterschool program that results in increased (1) academic achievement (2) commitment to school (3) family engagement. Objective, Regular attendees (students attending 20 or more days) 1 in grades 3 to 8 and 11 will show academic achievement gains as demonstrated by state test data. 2 demonstrate increased protective factors reduced risk factors as demonstrated by student surveys. 3 will realize a reduction in chronic absenteeism as compared to the school year prior to the project period as demonstrated by attendance data. (4) Family members of regular attendees will participate in out of school time student and family programming. Our strategies utilize out of school time programming consisting of academic learning time and enrichment and family programs. Outcomes include improvement in English Language Arts, Math, and Science, increased commitment to school, decreased absenteeism, increased social emotional skills, and increased family engagement.
