STEMpathy Building Emotional and Intellectual Bridges for Military

Abstract

Stafford County Public Schools (SCPS) designed the STEMpathy Initiative Building Emotional and Intellectual Bridges for Military Connected Youth aimed at fostering resilience and academic excellence among military connected students through targeted Social Emotional Learning (SEL), enhanced STEM education, and improved data infrastructure. The proposal outlines a comprehensive approach, including the adoption of advanced SEL assessment tools, the expansion of STEM programs, and significant enhancements to data infrastructure. This structured response aims to accurately assess and meet the SEL and academic needs of military connected students, ensuring their holistic development and success. Professional development for educators forms a core pillar of the initiative, equipping staff with the necessary skills to address the unique needs of military connected students effectively. In summary, the STEMpathy Initiative represents a targeted effort to enrich the academic and emotional well being of military connected students in SCPS.
