Lone Star AAP/Red River AD

Abstract

TexAmericas Center has shown substantial progress in redeveloping the former Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant which has resulted in job creation, tax base growth and additional tenant interest in the property. Current tenants include a company that makes protein for dog food producers (5 jobs), a headquarters office for a timber company (3), a laydown yard for a large utility provider (3), a lease for management of the rail system (3), a truck driving school for the local community college (8) and a trans load facility for an aggregate company (2). On the 2005 BRAC property from Red River Army Depot we have a lease for over 500 acres of land for vehicle storage. Currently, we have about 70 prospects in our pipeline that we have had at least an initial contact of interest to locate on our property. The OEA grant period ending on February 28, 2014 was designated as the base year for the two-year step down for OEA funding. In this package the TAC requests OEA funds for 2015/2016 operating and administrative costs.
