Fort Gillem

Abstract

The Urban Reuse Authority (URA) seeks this final year grant in order to continue base redevelopment activities at the former Fort Gillem. Its goals and objectives are to: (1) successfully transfer four priority parcels, totaling approximately 148 acres, via the FOST process; (2) facilitate the timely transfer of the remaining acreage as that property is remediated by the Army; and, (3) develop and implement a comprehensive Communications Plan for the Gillem Logistics Center. The URA and its consultants will work with the Army Environmental Team and its Contractor, the Army Corps of Engineers and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division to sample the four priority parcels and, where necessary, remediate the property to enable it to be transferred via the FOST process. The URA and its consultants will also review and provide input to the comprehensive 5-Year Site Remediation Plan being developed and implemented by the Army Team and its Contractor.
