Abstract

The Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority (MRRA), the local redevelopment authority for the former Naval Air Station Brunswick, Maine, is seeking a grant from the Office of Economic Adjustment to continue its redevelopment efforts with the goal to support the rapid and successful redevelopment of Brunswick Landing and the Topsham Commerce Park. Under its enabling statute, MRRA has broad authorizations and very diverse responsibilities in order to successfully transition the former Naval Air Station into the fabric of the Midcoast community. Responsibilities include: selling and leasing real estate, managing landlord responsibilities and building maintenance and repairs, managing public infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, street lights and public open space; managing utility infrastructure including electrical and potable water distribution and sewer and storm water collection and the operation of Brunswick Executive Airport. MRRA will continue to work with the Navy to transfer the remaining 9.51 acres of public benefit conveyance land as part of the Brunswick Executive Airport property and 319.28 acres of economic development conveyance property at Brunswick Landing through the Finding of Suitability for Transfer (FOST) once property has been cleaned by the Navy.
