City of Long Beach (DIA)

Abstract

The City of Long Beach requests OEA financial assistance to develop and implement a comprehensive economic transition program in the wake of the closure of the C-17 Globemaster production facility (Site) located in Long Beach, CA. Operated by The Boeing Corporation (Boeing), the Site provides for approximately 1.8 million square feet of Boeing-owned manufacturing facilities located on approximately 86 acres of Boeing-owned property. The Site is generally situated between Cherry Avenue to the west and the Long Beach Airport to the north, east and south. The Boeing C-17 Globemaster Plant Closure Transition Project will work in coordination with the University of Southern California (USC) and Advanced Manufacturing Partnership for Southern California (AMP SoCal) without duplicating their efforts.
