Fort Hood (Force Reduction)

Abstract

The purpose of this grant is to enable the City of Killeen to assess the economic impact that a loss of 3,350 military personnel at Fort Hood, Texas will have on the local economy, businesses, housing market, colleges and schools district, employers, and defense programs. The City of Killeen will function as the grant sponsor. The Heart of Texas Defense Alliance (HOTDA) and the selected consultant will facilitate collaboration between and synergy with regional leaders and associated communities. Goals of the grants include identifying community impacts associated with current and future personnel reductions, specifically in the areas of housing, schools and higher education, small business, employment, and defense suppliers and set conditions to diversity the regional economy to make it less affected by defense actions.
