Roosevelt Roads NS
Abstract
The Local Redevelopment Authority for Roosevelt Roads is requesting 12 months of OEA financial assistance for the 2015-2016 period in support of LRA operations and to facilitate continuation of redevelopment efforts initiated during the Grant for 2014-2015. The LRA’s redevelopment plan looks to spur economic development and job creation in the eastern region of Puerto Rico. Economic activity, job creation and visitor traffic began to pick-up at RR during the current 2014-2015 Grant period. The LRA expects this movement to continue trending upwards during the 2015-2016 Grant period with many projects and related business activities, such as the opening of a STEM room and board high school, the growth of existing micro businesses and the potential opening of new ones under the newly designated HUBZone, the establishment of a shipyard company and other commercial enterprises that will crop up and flourish at the property after the signing of a Master Development Agreement.
