Fort Bragg (Force Reduction)
Abstract
The purpose of this grant is to enable the City of Fayetteville to lead the effort to complete a comprehensive regional assessment of the potential impacts associated with the recent announcement to reduce the number of soldiers and civilian personnel by 2001 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The assessment should identify possible impacts in the areas of housing, foreclosed homes, neighborhood blight, reduced economic activity for local businesses, and a decline in government support. This assessment will lead to the early development of strategies and recommendations for mitigating the anticipated and unanticipated impacts in our region as a result of the reduction in personnel at Fort Bragg.
