State of Hawaii

Abstract

The State of Hawaii seeks to identify and understand the regional economic dependencies of the Department of Defense supply chain network in Hawaii, and develop actions plans that will help the State and our Department of Defense contractors to become more resilient to changing military requirements. Defense spending in Hawaii represents 9.9% of the States GDP, which ranks number 2 in the nation. Changes to Department of Defense mission and spending profile can have significant effects on commercial defense suppliers and the local economy. The primary goal of this initial phase is to adequately understand the defense supply chain in Hawaii and develop action plans that will help the State more quickly and proactively respond to changing requirements. As a result of this effort, the State of Hawaii will produce a stakeholder directory, supply chain map, and develop an action plan to reduce dependency and impacts from defense spending changes.
