State of South Carolina (2)
Abstract
SCDEW will procure training providers to provide diversification services through a Fixed Priced Bid. Ideally, there will be several vendors procured that meet the quality and cost criteria, fostering an ?approved list? of trainers which firms can select from. Historically, similar diversification assistance has ranged from $40,000 to $50,000 per business assisted, but there are exceptions where businesses have a larger pool of workers to be trained or have significant strategic development needs. With the maximum award amount of $75,000 allowed per firm, it is projected that at least 38 firms will receive diversification assistance. Thirty firms will be targeted from the supply chain analysis that was developed by USC during the first iteration of the Defense Industry Adjustment (DIA). An additional 8 firms will be targeted from symposiums and other means that are not listed on the supply chain analysis. These tasks support the state?s Aerospace Strategic Plan. With the significant expansion of the aerospace industry in South Carolina initiated by Boeing, South Carolina?s status as a state doing aerospace manufacturing evolved to a state that is developing an aerospace ecosystem. Per the South Carolina Aerospace Task Force Strategic Plan, You Are Cleared to Land in South Carolina, in order to build this ecosystem, the state must: ? Expand and improve the existing aerospace supply chain, recruiting new suppliers and offering existing manufactures assistance in attaining and maintaining necessary aerospace-related standards and certifications, and ? Retain defense companies and suppliers already in the state.
