Abstract
A central goal of the NJ MarketShift grant is preserving and strengthening New Jersey?s aerospace and defense (A&D) supplier network by providing tools and services that stimulate A&D-related commercial activity and growth, particularly around new markets and new technologies. We focus on solution sets for defense-impacted SMEs and regional economic organizations that offer support to companies, clusters, and regions in four areas: 1) intelligence tools, 2) complex collaborations, 3) competency building and 4) advisory services. Through these tools and services, we are creating drivers for accessing new customers and markets, innovating with new players within and across supply chains, and strengthening companies? and regions? abilities to compete in the face of defense investment reductions. The program authority referenced is 12.617: enhance State capacities to assist communities, businesses, and workers affected by Defense program activity to plan and carry out community adjustment and economic diversification activities; support local adjustment and diversification efforts; and stimulate cooperation between statewide and local adjustment and diversification efforts.
