Fort Hood (JLUS)

Abstract

The Central Texas Council of Governments (CTCOG) requests financial assistance from the Office of Economic Adjustment, Department of Defense (OEA, DoD) to fund an 18-month project to be conducted from April 2017 through September 2018. The purpose is to implement selected recommendations contained in the Fort Hood Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) dated December 2016. Implementing these recommendations will remain a collaborative process between Fort Hood leaders, state and regional governments, and surrounding communities. Specific recommendations to be carried out during the grant period include developing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for regional coordination; revising municipal government comprehensive plans, subdivision regulations, zoning ordinances, and building codes; establishing an encroachment awareness area; and developing Dark Skies lighting regulations, a small area plan for Hood Army Airfield, and a regional Geographic Information System (GIS) database to track JLUS coordination across jurisdictional boundaries.
