March ARB (JLUS)

Abstract

March Joint Powers Authority seeks to prepare a Preliminary Design Report (PDR) for design alternatives and a 30% design for improvements to the Cactus Channel along the northern boundary of March Air Reserve Base (ARB). The Cactus Channel does not properly drain and causes standing water that attracts birds, which directly affects flying operations at the base. Flooding is also likely during large storm events, impacting base operations. The PDR and 30% design will provide the necessary guidance that will assist local stakeholders in formulating alternative solutions to the improper Cactus Channel drainage and resulting impacts to March ARB. It will also accelerate conversations regarding the funding of permanent channel solutions.
