Abstract
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts will partially implement a Defense Industry Diversification Plan that was developed with OEA funding from a previous grant. This implementation plan will establish a Senior Vice President for Manufacturing and Defense Sector Initiatives who will liaison defense sector companies with the Massachusetts Innovation Bridge. The plan will also provide support for small defense related businesses to engage with and access the expertise of the UMass-Lowell Fabric Discovery Center and Natick Labs. It will also establish two talent pools at UMass-Lowell which are part of an Innovation Hub that supports the intellectual property needs of defense related small businesses. Finally, it will help link the Manufacturing Fabric Discovery Center and Talent Pools with the MMEP Defense Industry Transition and SBIR Assistance programs.
