State of Maryland (DD)

Abstract

This grant will provide Maryland with support for strategies to increase economic diversification in order to minimize impacts on businesses, communities and individuals caused by Department of Defense (DoD) spending reductions. The project will stimulate cooperation between statewide and and local diversification efforts. This is the implementation phase of the project. Maryland will complete the following: A build out of the State?s primary defense industry network tool to better connect with defense contractors and provide them with diversification opportunities, the development and execution of a statewide training and assistance program focused on providing skills and resources needed to diversify defense businesses, and the development of two regional Technology Commercialization Programs in Southern Maryland and Northeast Maryland. The benefit to DOD is that this project will enhance the resiliency of the supply chain in Maryland which will assist DOD during a growth period for military departments.
