Fort Riley (JLUS)

Abstract

The Flint Hills Regional Council (FHRC), on behalf of the 11 local jurisdictions that participated in the Fort Riley Joint Land Use Study (JLUS), requests financial assistance from the Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA) for the implementation of the recommendations in the Fort Riley JLUS. The FHRC has been selected by the local communities to serve as the grantee and lead organization for the JLUS implementation project. These communities include Clay County, Geary County, Grandview Plaza, Junction City, Manhattan, Milford, Ogden, Pottawatomie County, City of Riley, Riley County, and Wakefield. Each jurisdiction adopted a resolution accepting and adopting the JLUS and authorizing the FHRC to apply of the JLUS Implementation funds. The first recommendation in the JLUS to all the jurisdictions is to make the TAC into the Implementation Committee. This committee will advise the FHRC staff, the effected jurisdictions, and any consultants on the implementation of the recommendations. The Implementation Committee will assist in the development of RFQs and the selection of consultants. There will be benefits from the sharing of ideas and the development of policies that have some consistency from one jurisdiction to the other. The FHRC Director will chair the Implementation Committee.
