State of Alabama - SPG Supply Chain Resiliency

Abstract

The objective of grant is to support the defense industrial base in Alabama through the recruitment, education and technical assistance for contractors and subcontractors in achieving compliance with NIST 800-171 security control requirements. The University of Alabama in Huntsville Office for Operational Excellence (UAH-OOE) will conduct a series of workshops across the state to provide education and identify small and medium size defense dependent companies needing assistance. This project directly supports modernization efforts to facilitate the economic diversification of defense contractors and subcontractors and builds both a more resilient supply chain for DOD but also directly contributes to a more robust economy locally. UAH-OOE will coordinate with the UAH Center for Cyber security Research and Education and the Alabama Technology Network (ATN), Alabama’s MEP affiliates. The UAH-OOE team will conduct assessments and gap reports and complete system security plans for select qualifying companies. This grant will benefit DOD by providing assistance to smaller companies within the existing defense supply chain. Many of these companies are at risk of not meeting the DFARS 252-204-7012 standard and they need this assistance to continue to work as DOD suppliers. This grant will benefit DOD by ensuring a robust supply chain in the State of Alabama.
