State of Maryland - SPG Supply Chain Resiliency

Abstract

The objective of grant is to support the defense industrial base in Maryland through the recruitment, education and technical assistance for contractors and subcontractors in achieving compliance with NIST 800-171 security control requirements. The State of Maryland Department of Commerce will work with the Maryland Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) to conduct a series of workshops across the state to provide education and identify small and medium size defense dependent companies needing assistance. This project directly supports modernization efforts to facilitate the economic diversification of defense contractors and subcontractors and builds a more resilient supply chain for DOD and also directly contributes to a more robust economy locally. The Maryland MEP team will conduct assessments and gap reports and complete system security plans for select qualifying companies. This grant will benefit DOD by providing assistance to small and medium size companies within the existing defense supply chain. Many of these companies are at risk of not meeting the DFARS 252-204-7012 and NIST 800 171 standard and they need this assistance to continue to work as DOD contractors. This grant will benefit DOD by ensuring a robust supply chain in the State of Maryland.
