Fort McPherson

Abstract

The purpose of this grant request is to obtain financial assistance in support of the ongoing community base redevelopment activities at the former Fort McPherson, Atlanta, GA, which formally closed in September 2011. Funds provided by OEA will supplement the annual operations budget of the McPherson Implementing Local Redevelopment Authority (MILRA) for its fiscal period July 2017 to June 2018. Primary goals for this fiscal year include: 1. Continue progress with our Master Planner/Developer towards future development 2. Conducting infrastructure and building needs assessment studies to facilitate lease and development transactions based on the Master Developer’s and architect’s guidance (ongoing) 3. Continue to gather environmental intel for the remaining building inventory (ongoing) 4. Seek additional grants from other sources to initiate Workforce Development projects 5. Continue to work with our local partners to enhance the awareness of the site’s progress through more aggressive branding and community engagement 6. Become Self-Sufficient in the coming months through lease, sales, and development MILRA along with its vested stakeholders and consultants are continually working diligently to bring occupiers to the property.
