Fort Meade/Meade HS Planning & Design (SCON)

Abstract

As a Public School on a Military Installation (PSMI), Meade High School serves military children and is operated by the Local Educational Agency (LEA); Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS). AACPS and the Department of Defense (DoD) share a commitment to ensuring that all children of military families have the opportunity for a quality education that prepares them to be successful in their careers, leading contributors in their communities, and productive citizens. The intent of this grant is to fund the design and engineering of a renovation and addition to the existing Meade High School. The design will develop a 21st century learning environment by planning for the spaces described in AACPS’ Educational Specification and complying with Maryland State Department of Education’s (MSDE) design standards. The design and engineering will also address the physical environment and condition of the facility through a series of systemic improvements which will ensure durability, ease of maintenance and sustainability, meet building code, life safety, and American’s with disabilities act requirements, and improve security in accordance with DoD Antiterrorism guidelines.
