Delaware Valley Region Phase 3

Abstract

Under this grant, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development will help small and medium-sized defense manufacturers in the Delaware Valley region learn about and adopt Advanced Manufacturing Technologies. The project will continue to advance staff and market education, improve manufacturing workforce development, and will seek to support the Department of Defense’s interest in a more resilient supply chain. Additionally, this project aims to engage other technology resources—designers, makers and hardware entrepreneurs, institutions of higher education, and third-party technology integrators—to help SMMs with one of the major constraints hindering Advanced Manufacturing Technology adoption: the lack of technical expertise necessary to implement Advanced Manufacturing Technologies. Together, these efforts will drive technological utilization and sophistication within the regional defense supply chain. These efforts will spur innovation, enhance manufacturing capabilities, capitalize on competitive strengths, and promote stability and resiliency within the regional defense supply chain, all of which are critical elements to bolstering national security, promoting industry resilience, and supporting the warfighter.
