State of Texas - UTSA Cyber

Abstract

When DoD placed requirements on contractors to comply with DFARS 252.24-7012 by Dec 31, 2017, many small businesses were not prepared for this new standard. These small businesses do not have system security plans or the staff to implement them. The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Institute for Economic Development (IED) will respond to this need by collaborating with our colleagues in the nationally recognized UTSA Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security (CIAS), , and Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) throughout the state of Texas to provide the Texas Cybersecurity Compliance Program (TCP). TCP aims to support opportunities to assist DoD contractors and manufacturers in complying with DFARS requirements and enhancing overall defense suppliers. UTSA will coordinate three cybersecurity activities for businesses, including: • Cybersecurity Training for DoD contractors on DFARS and NIST requirements • Cybersecurity Awareness Training for DoD manufacturers and contractors • Cyber physical security workshops and assessments
