Commonwealth Bureau of Military Affairs
Abstract
In response to the unprecedented nature, magnitude, evolving, and protracted Department of Defense actions, within the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, that are paramount to Department of Defense readiness, training, and operations in the Western Pacific theater of operations, the program of assistance enables the Commonwealth Government to establish a Commonwealth Bureau of Military Affairs, within the Office of the Governor. The Commonwealth Bureau of Military Affairs will: enhance the role of the Office of the Governor as the single point of contact for all Federal actions associated with the Department of Defense programs; ensure the Commonwealth’s equities are represented; enable the Governor and the Commonwealth Government to make informed decisions on behalf of the Commonwealth; enhance communications with DoD; enhance community outreach and awareness; and enhance the Office of the Governor and Commonwealth Government’s responsiveness and effectiveness to the Department of Defense programs and initiatives.
