State of North Dakota - Phase 1 Industry Resilience

Abstract

This grant will enable the University of North Dakota’s Center for Innovation to work on these defense sector issues in a coordinated way. The first objective of this project is to develop a comprehensive understanding of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to defense companies, suppliers and customers in the state. The report will enable development of a supply chain map, database, and online portal to scaffold the defense sector in North Dakota. The report will also be useful to economic developers in North Dakota and assist their work to support this critical industry sector. Most importantly, it will promote greater resiliency for the supply chain by helping increase connectivity among stakeholders. Finally, the state will develop and run an outreach and awareness campaign to build a greater understanding of the compliance and certification requirements for defense contractors which were set forth by the Department of Defense in January 2020 under its Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) process.
