Roosevelt Roads Redevelopment Implementation Grant

Abstract

The LRA requests OEA technical and funding assistance to provide support to the U.S. Navy s environmental remediation process and expedite the completion of the transfer of property in order to restore the employment lost as a result of the closure of Naval Station Roosevelt Roads (NSRR) and the ensuing BRAC process. In alignment with OEA s programmatic objectives, the LRA will implement the strategies enunciated in both the Reuse and Sustainability plans and engage the private sector to undertake economic development and base redevelopment. Economic development, job creation and advancing to a step closer to the LRA becoming a self-sufficient public corporation, are the expected outcomes for the grant period. The LRA staff is responsible for the operation, maintenance and administration of the land and facilities of the NSRR, including, but not limited, to security, management and coordination of infrastructure and utilities improvements, administration of piers, management of leases and community relationships.
