Fort Riley - CU

Abstract

The grant will provide assistance through several actions. The creation of wind turbine legislation for Kansas surrounding military installations will help control wind farm siting. The creation of a Planner position to serve the 11 jurisdictions surrounding Fort Riley will result in the implementation of the public outreach and informational recommendations from the JLUS. A housing and market study will be conducted for Junction City. As a follow up to the UAS Corridor Study recommendations, the grant will create and update comprehensive plans and land use regulations for the counties contained in the UAS Corridor. A transportation study for Green Valley in Pottawatomie County is another project developed from the JLUS recommendations to study the development of the area. Finally, the Military Installation Resilience (MIR) study will review the resilience of off base infrastructure at Fort Riley to ensure that the base has the ability to prepare for and recover from disruptions that impact mission assurance. Further, energy resilience encourages the necessary planning and capabilities to ensure available, reliable, and quality power to continuously accomplish DoD missions.
