Fort Gordon CU Implementation
Abstract
The updated Compatible Use Plan offered a detailed slate of recommendations for Fort Gordon s neighboring communities. Current and potential issues for Fort Gordon area include: noise impacts from training on the installation, land development encroaching on the installation boundary, lack of standard procedure for evaluating off-post land development changes, and night sky preservation (to accommodate night-time training missions involving on low levels of light). Implementation measures to address these issues include: - formalizing a CU implementation committee - study of light pollution - creating public information materials on different aspects of compatible use and Fort Gordon - creating an MOU/MOA for development review and coordination with Fort Gordon - creating overlay districts and ordinance language for bordering jurisdictions - creating a stand alone website for implementation efforts
