NAS Fort Worth JRB CU Grant 2
Abstract
The Compatible Use Program Implementation Project for the North Central Texas region will focus on promoting compatible community growth around regional military facilities to preserve military operational capabilities. This project seeks to implement recommendations from the 2018 Joint Land Use Study for North Central Texas, which includes Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base, Fort Worth; Dallas Army Aviation Support Facility; Fort Wolters; Camp Maxey; and the Eagle Mountain Training Center. The overall goals of the implementation project are to encourage coordination between the military and community, promote local planning and encroachment protection, enhance sound attenuation measures, address aviation issues including Unmanned Aerial Systems and airspace trends, plan for infrastructure improvements, facilitate perimeter security partnerships, and to provide information to the public. Project deliverables include creating formal channels of communication, producing materials to encourage local governments to conduct planning efforts that inspire compatible development, participation in the City of Dallas master development plan for Hensley Field in order to facilitate communication and determine the appropriateness of the Dallas Army Aviation Support Facility remaining where it is or operations moving to another installation, development of programs to address sound attenuation measures, facilitation of discussions on UAS activity, planning for infrastructure improvements, and development of public information tools. The North Central Texas Council of Governments is serving as the sponsor for the 18-month study and will be assisting with partner coordination throughout the region.
