State of California CU Support

Abstract

This grant provides funding to support the hiring of a Geographic Information System Specialist within State of California Office of Planning and Research in order to provide full-time Geographic Information System support to the California Military Energy Opportunity Compatibility Assessment Mapping Project and other integrated systems that support State and Department of Defense engagement. The project is identifying and evaluating federal, state, and local permitting and siting processes for renewable energy projects, enhancing current data and collecting new data and mapping of on and offshore military testing and training areas, as well as areas identified for renewable energy development by local and state agencies in order to prevent adverse impacts to Department of Defense test, training and military operations. The Geographic Information System Specialist will also be instrumental for coordination and integration with the State of Washington and State of Oregon energy projects to ensure regional support for the Department of Defense.
