San Diego Region - MIR 2

Abstract

The Phase 1 grant developed a framework for data collection between the Navy and San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) and identified critical resilience vulnerabilities with significant impacts to transportation corridors identified in the project area that includes Naval Base San Diego, Naval Base Point Loma, Naval Base Coronado. This Phase 2 grant will build upon and implement the analysis from Phase 1 to support the Navy, SANDAG and municipal agencies in the region to further prepare for climate change vulnerabilities and maintain mission readiness and access to/from military bases. Key focus areas for Phase 2 will address ingress/egress to the Naval Bases, specifically Pacific Coast Highway, Harbor Drive and SR 75, which are identified Strategic Highway Network connectors in the San Diego region. This grant will: 1) determine the feasibility of various project options for key transportation facilities; 2) further plan and carry out solutions for climate change vulnerabilities and transportation demand management outreach 3) implement the data framework developed in Phase 1 to ensure standardized flow and exchange of transportation and climate planning information as it relates to military mission readiness
