Wasco County Energy Planning

Abstract

The County of Wasco has received grant funding over a 15-month project period to analyze potential alternative energy encroachment activities on military airspace and to create an overlay zone around the airspace with criteria and notification requirements for relevant applications. The goal of the proposed project is to codify criteria and triggers for pre-application coordination with the Department of Defense on projects that represent potential encroachment into the military airspace. The criteria and overlay zone map will be adopted into official Wasco County plans. Completing this project will enable Wasco County and alternative energy developers to coordinate with and better support the mission of military forces training in the airspace over Wasco County and throughout the region between Naval Weapons Systems Training Facility Boardman and the Northwest Training Range Complex.
