State of Maryland Workforce Modernization

Abstract

The Department of Defense’s demand for innovative products that require the use of advanced manufacturing technology has created a need for workers that can securely operate digital manufacturing equipment. The University of Maryland, Baltimore County and MxD Learn, the workforce arm of MxD, is expanding a set of courses in cybersecurity for operational manufacturing technology with the intent of diversifying small and medium-sized manufacturers in the DoD supply chain by equipping workers with the skills to operate advanced manufacturing technology in a cyber secure manner. The project will create a customizable curriculum that targets adult learners looking to modernize their skills at the intersection of cybersecurity and manufacturing.
