NW Florida Regional - Installation Resilience

Abstract

This project integrates critical military resilience concerns into the strategies, plans, and investments of surrounding municipalities to foster, protect, and create a resilient future that considers the unique contributions of Northwest Florida s military operations. The Project Team will produce, in partnership with key stakeholders, a Military Installation Resilience Review (MIRR) and Implementation Action Plan to enhance readiness and response to both natural and man-made hazards. This 18-month regional effort will leverage cutting-edge local and national expertise to identify and incorporate military installations resilience needs and fully integrate those needs into regional resilience planning. Furthermore, a strategic review of civilian and military resilience standards will ensure that the Department of Defense (DoD) has a common frame of reference across the region. Relying on a scenario-based approach to stakeholder engagement and developing a framework for understanding the capabilities and responsibilities of key stakeholders will ensure that the DoD has the information and strategies it needs to increase the adaptive capacity of our regional military installations. This project will be led by West Florida Regional Planning Council (Emerald Coast Regional Council) and leverage our strong relationships with Military Commanders, municipal and county governments, economic development organizations, and the State of Florida.
