Illinois Defense Manufacturing Consortium

Abstract

"The Illinois Defense Manufacturing Consortium (ILDMC) will leverage our national strengths in casting, forging, and energy storage coupled with the Illinois Defense Network’s (IDN) six-year history of collaboration, ecosystem development and expertise around defense industry supply chain to launch a Casting, Forging, and Energy Storage Center of Excellence and implement a comprehensive solution to address national security priorities The Center of Excellence will focus on the core need for long-term manufacturing investments. The factors of focus for the center will be the drivers of productivity - investments in technology, workforce skills, and market growth. Improving the productivity of casting and forging manufacturers will enable industrial capacity to remain globally competitive and strengthen the defense industrial base to meet DoD needs. The ILDMC will serve as a vehicle for MIIs and other stakeholders to reach into local communities to introduce new offerings and create a comprehensive regional solution to the DoD’s need for a reliable supply chain. The team will work to enhance the capacity and expand the capabilities of small and medium sized manufacturers and businesses in the region. Activities include engaging in outreach, networking, and teaming to identify and pursue new sales and supply chain diversification opportunities, as well as technical assistance, training, research, and data analysis."
