Limestone Regional Diversification
Abstract
The Loring Development Authority of Maine (LDA) seeks to diversify the economy of the Limestone Maine region by implementing a robust Regional Economic Diversification (RED) strategy and economic sustainability plan for the Loring Commerce Center and for the greater Limestone/Aroostook County region. The RED strategy will position the region to better diversify its economy and dependency on the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) facility at the former Loring Air Force Base. Three key elements for this funding request include: 1) the preparation of an Airport Master Plan for the reuse of the former Air Force aviation complex; 2) the conduct of an energy capacity/needs assessment and resiliency plan; and 3) an evaluation of the workforce skills associated with DFAS.
