L. Mendel Rivers ES Design Only / PSMI Altus AFB
Abstract
Altus Public Schools proposes the construction of a new elementary school facility, L. Mendel Rivers, on Altus Air Force Base to meet the condition deficienies outlined by the Department of Defense in Public Schools on Military Installations Priority List. The proposed construction meets state and federal design guidelines, capacity requirements, and technology needs. The existing facility will be demolished and the land used to generate adequate parking. Rivers Elementary is located on district leased property on Altus Air Force Base, surrounded by federally owned residences. Rivers serves over 350 students in grades Pre-K through 4th grade, of which 95% are federally connected.
