CNMI Office of the Governor Transition Capacity Enhancement

Abstract

The Grant enables the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands to initiate a structured analysis and decision-making methodology in response to: the unprecedented nature and magnitude of the Department of Defense basing actions proposed for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands; the protracted DoD period of engagement; the continuum of economic activity ranging from boom-bust-boom; and the daily challenge to deliver government services to the CNMI citizens. Enhancing the Commonwealth s analytical decision-making and responsiveness is paramount; given the strategic importance of the Department of Defense proposed programs for the Commonwealth, which enhance and ensure Department s resiliency in the Indo-Pacific Area of Responsibility (AOR).
