Bluegrass Area Defense Diversification

Abstract

This grant will offset the impact of losing 1,800 local jobs that currently provide approximately $1.8M in occupational tax to the combined Madison County Fiscal Court and City of Richmond and transition the services provided by the Madison County Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program (CSEPP) supported annually by $4.33 million in federal expenditures. This grant will also coordinate with the existing facility assessment mandated by Congress in the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This coordination is required from an economic development perspective to align defense related industries with the workforce that will become available at the end of the chemical demilitarization process.
