Scott AFB - IR
Abstract
The Kaskaskia Regional Port District will procure a vendor to complete a jet fuel pipeline feasibility study in support of Scott AFB. The major area of concern to the Air Force and specifically Scott AFB is the single-source of jet fuel currently supporting both the military and the joint-use operations that could fail in the event of a natural disaster or enemy aggression. This feasibility assessment for a pipeline can help ensure installation resilience and support continued operational security and readiness at Scott AFB. Options for fuel storage and improved regional transportation networks are additional benefits that will be examined as part of this overall effort. The primary threat to installation resilience is flooding. Since 2010, five flash floods - three since 2020 - caused by heavy rain have closed roads on and around Scott AFB.
