Neutra ES Design and Construction - NAS Lemoore

Abstract

Central Union Elementary School District (CUDS) recived grant funding from the DoD Public Schools on Military Installations (PSMI) program to remedy the facility condition and capacity deficiencies at R.J. Neutra Elementary School located on Lemoore Naval Air Station in California. R.J. Neutra Elementary School, which provides transitional kindergarten through fifth-grade education to military dependents, is ranked #43 on the DoD Public Schools on Military Installation Priority List approved by the Deputy Secretary of Defense on April 15, 2019. CUSD has proactively addressed some capacity deficiencies since the 2018 Facility Condition Assessment Report and examined multiple options to resolve the remaining identified deficiencies based on California Department of Education school construction standards, Local Education Agency educational goals, facility condition, construction costs, and the future maintenance and operating expenses. The proposed design and construction project will resolve the identified concerns, and other facility limitations, through a renovation/addition project using a phased construction approach. This project includes modernization and expansion of R.J. Neutra Elementary School to include thirteen (13) new classrooms, a new food service and cafeteria dining area, repurposing the existing multipurpose room, renovating the existing classrooms, reconditioning and enhancing the parking lot for traffic flow, reconditioning hardcourt and flatwork around the campus, and addressing and enhancing general systems that are beyond their useful life.
