Forrestal ES / Naval Station GL PSMI

Abstract

The intent of this project is to replace an aged and dilapidated school building at Forrestal Elementary School at Naval Station Great Lakes with a brand-new structure. Utilizing field space to the south of the current structure, the new school will be constructed adjacent to the existing building, eliminating the need for temporary space for the school. The new school building will be able to accommodate increased grade span (adding 4th and 5th grade classrooms) and increasing enrollment of military connected children. The new structure will offer improved educational opportunities to children in line with the district standard. In addition, the school will provide improvements like drinkable water that the existing building cannot provide to our students. After the new school is constructed, the existing structure will be demolished and replaced with play structures and fields to serve all of the students in the school.
