Fort Harrison IR 2024

Abstract

This grant consists of two assessments: Regional Community-Installation Resilience Vulnerability Assessment and Wildfire Risk Assessment. The Vulnerability Assessment’s purpose is to evaluate the gaps and redundancies in planning for resiliency, to benefit both Fort Harrison and Limestone Hill Training Areas and the communities in this region of Montana. This component makes specific recommendations to integrate installation resiliency with efforts already underway in the communities to facilitate growth. The Wildfire Risk Assessment aims to identify actions that will enable risk-informed planning and management decisions by the Montana Army National Guard and community wildland fire managers to minimize the risk wildfires that interrupt military training and/or a large uncontrollable wildfire entering or escaping the installation boundaries and impacting the surrounding buffers and local communities. The goal of this component is to protect the installation, buffers and surrounding communities of the two installations in support of mission assurance.
