Vandenberg SFB - IR

Abstract

This grant in support of Vandenberg Space Force Base and the City of Lompoc builds from the previous Mission Installation Sustainability grant results to provide conceptual and concrete designs for regional macro energy resilience projects, including a new substation and transmission service right-of-way; emergency alternate water supply; and updates to the wastewater treatment plant to provide installation and community resilience. A joint tabletop exercise with key federal, state, installation, and local public and private stakeholders examines the likely resilience of the installation and regional energy alternatives evaluated under natural or man-made service interruptions or cybersecurity breaches. The grant also addresses a critical workforce housing issue identified in the supplemental housing study funded by the previous grant and provide the community and Vandenberg Space Force Base with a new tool, a Blanket Intergovernmental Support Agreement to use in addressing mission and community resilience in the future.
